In The Birds, clusters of bright colors gather against a deep black background, creating the impression of a flock suspended in space. The composition is animated by the contrast between luminous blues, reds, yellows, and whites, whose rhythms echo the unpredictable patterns of birds moving together through the sky.
The painting is less concerned with depicting actual birds than with capturing their collective energy. Individual forms appear and disappear, merging into larger movements.
