Nothing in this painting moves in a straight line.
The figures are round, self-contained, almost planetary. They resemble travelers carrying entire inner worlds within them. Some wear patterns like maps, others like memories, fingerprints, or fragments of landscapes. Each seems complete on its own, yet all inhabit the same swirling space filled with dots, echoes, and floating signs.
The title Roundabout Souls speaks to the winding paths we take through life. Few journeys are direct. We circle around our desires, revisit old questions, return to forgotten places, and often discover ourselves only after taking the long way around.
The large figures dominate the composition like wandering planets, while the smaller round beings above them seem to mirror their movements. Together they create a universe of cycles rather than destinations.
The circles scattered throughout the painting reinforce this idea. They suggest moments, encounters, memories, and recurring thoughts that accompany us wherever we go. Life rarely unfolds as a straight line. It expands in loops, spirals, and unexpected returns.
In the Tourliboulis universe, a soul is not fixed. It grows through experience, collecting stories, colors, wounds, and joys along the way. Every detour becomes part of its shape.
Roundabout Souls celebrates those indirect journeys. The paths that seem to wander often reveal the richest landscapes. Sometimes the long way home is the way we discover who we are.
